Parodontitis

Most patients think that parodontitis is not treated – it is a wrong belief. Patients often have no idea about their illness. Parodontitis is treated and very successfully, it’s important to determine a diagnosis timely, estimate prognosis and prescribe medication. Periodentist will help you with this.

The most frequently met forms of parodontitis – is chronical parodontitis – infectious inflammatory disease of dental ligamentous apparatus (gingivae, dental ligament, bone). The disease is caused by bacterial plaque being by nature of bacterium complex attached to surface of tooth. Further bacterium penetration through sulcus leads to ginvigitis, ligament destruction, formation of gingival pockets. The pockets can reach 4,6 and even 10 mm, at the rate of 2-3 mm.

The signs indicating development of parodontitis:

  • bleeding gum;
  • bad breath, itching and burning in gingivae;
  • baring of root of tooth;
  • tooth mobility and change of their location;
  • space formation between roots of the tooth and gingival as a result of bone discussion;
  • pain, pyorrhea from gingivae are possible during recrudescence.

In our clinics we use the most modern methods of treatment and prevention of periodontics that allow to treat parodontitis at early stages parodontitis and to freeze development of more severe forms.

For specification of parodontitis severity the periodentist carries on investigation:

  • identifies the amount of dental plaque and calculus, degree of bleeding gum;
  • measures the depths of pockets with the help of special probe;
  • makes X-ray examination(orthopantomogram);
  • makes an analysis of typodont;
  • carries out a laboratory investigation (presence of parodontopathogenic bacteria).

A diagnosis is made after the examination.

Parodontitis treatment

  • professional hygiene is carried out by a hygienist;
  • after periodentist’s consulatation a plan of periodentistry is developed that depending on severity degree could consist of the following procedures:
    • scaling (mechanical removal of bacterial dental accumulation, plaque);
    • curettage (removal of pocket epithelium and granulation tissues by curettages);
    • flap surgery using membrane and bone substitute.

After the basic course of treatment it is necessary to carry out preventive procedures once in three months or according to individual plan developed by the periodentist.

Bleeding gum and gingivae redness, bed breath, neck of tooth exposure and tooth mobility trouble you, this is inflammation of parodontium – tissues surrounding tooth and holding it in bone.

Gingivitis, parodontitis and parodontosis belong to the most common parodontium diseases.

At the initial stage patients complain of pain, bleeding and swelling gum, mucosa redness.

By progression of parodontium disease bed breath, swelling gum, gingival pockets, gum recession leading to neck of tooth exposure, deformation and destruction of bone tissue leading to tooth mobility and loss appear.

In dental clinic “Modern stomatology” a wide range of modern diagnostics and treatment methods of parodontium diseases including Vector attenuated non invasive therapy is used.

The purpose of treatment is complete removal of inflammation, recovery of anatomical organizations and physiological functions of parodontium and also support of the received curative effect.

Complex parodontium treatment consists from several stages.

Primary periodentistry includes:

  • scaling and removal of concrements;
  • removal of low quality filling, selective grinding and obligatory filling of teeth;
  • at the presence of gingival pockets they are cleaned and treated pharmatheutically.

Using Vector dental calculus, biofilm and bacteria are removed by thin instruments from the surface of root till the very bottom of periodontal pocket. The surfaces of roots are cleaned and polished with the help of special suspension Vector Fluid Polish. Herewith hard tissues are not damaged and soft tissues are not traumatized.

Surgical stage consists of:

  • complete removal of lost support function of;
  • frenuloplasty and soft tissue sculpturing;
  • open and closed curettage of periodontal pockets;
  • complex surgical treatment using “membrane” technology and further special dental prosthetics;
  • implantation of osseous tissue;
  • cosmetic gingival reconstruction;
    • Supportive periorestorative treatment is a part of periodentistry and is made by hygienist and periodontist;
    • Modern periodontology has a great variety of treatment methods of parodontium diseases but however it is better to prevent the development of these diseases. Thorough oral hygiene, regular professional scaling and removal of concrements will help you to keep teeth and gingivae in good health and to save beautiful smile.
